What is Aquaponics? Aquaponics is the cultivation of fish and plants together in a constructed, recirculating ecosystem utilizing natural bacterial cycles to convert fish waste to plant nutrients. This is an environmentally friendly, natural food-growing method that harnesses the best attributes of aquaculture and hydroponics without the need to discard any water or filtrate or add chemical fertilizers. So far progress is slow. This is a learning experience to say the least. Every time I think I know what needs done, I just have to read another article. I do know we need to finish emptying out the greenhouse and get the floor ready, the wood stoves need to be set, and the wall needs to be filled in. My better half will be home Tuesday. I have a lot of things to discuss with her. Her imput is very helpful and much needed on a project of this magnitude.
